My Warmup/Pregame Routine

My sports warmup/pregame routine. First if it’s a school day I get home at 3:00pm I make myself 2 over easy eggs, 1 piece of bacon 2 if I’m super-duper hungry and last, I have 2 pieces of toast with butter. After I eat that I sit down and usually just rest up. After about 30 minutes of watching Tik Tok’s or Netflix I go to work in the barn for about 1 hour. When all that’s done, I come inside and pack my bag, fill up my water, grab some baseballs and head out the door. Once I get to the baseball diamond we are playing at me, and my throwing partner Sam Clark warmup our arms by throwing the ball around. Then since I’m the catcher me and the starting pitcher warm up. After we are done that, we gather in a circle and I or another teammate lead stretches. Then the coaches give us the starting lineup and we head onto the field. It’s the same start for hockey I eat, relax, work, pack my bag and head off to the arena. There are just one or two more steps. I tape my stick with black Renfrew hockey tape before every single game. I also stretch before I leave because I don’t have time when I get to the rink. Those are my sports warmup/pregame routines.

The Songs We Listen to at Hockey

The songs we listen to before and after a game are totally different then songs we listen to before a game. The songs we listen to before a game are to get us hyped up and ready to win. When I say ”we” I mean my team and I .We usually have a teammate bring a huge speaker and play songs on that. I have no clue what the names of those songs are. They’re not my favorite, so I usually listen to my own music with air pods before I go in the arena. Now the songs we listen to after games are way I mean, way better. We play, Party In The USA, Only Girl In the World anything like that. I find it better because after the game we can mess around, listen to music and talk. Also, if you win it makes the songs a whole lot better. If you don’t win there is no music, and nobody talks unless it’s about how bad the refs were. Now that’s why I love the songs we listen to after wins and before gamesHockey Players In The Warm-up Stock video footage | 9034104

Where I’m From

                                                 By Holden Porteous

I am from the sticks,

whacking together after the puck drops.

I’m from the crowd yelling shoot shoot,

the team on the other bench yelling,

Back check, back check

From the edge of my skate,

Digging into the fresh flooded ice.

I am from the smell of Howie’s Hockey Wax,

and fresh fries at the canteen.

I’m from “this is Evan porteous son”

from the “you have yourself one heck of a ballplayer”.

I am from the dust explosion in the air,

the not knowing where the ball is,

nor the plate.

From what feels like the forever long wait,

for he’s safe! Or he’s out!

From the sight of the freshly painted base lines.

I’m from the snowmobile fumes,

tickling my nose.

From the revving of the big Kabota,

and the last few pumps of diesel

In the old green John Deer.

From the final load of corn in the corn bin.

The smell of new Dakota work boots.

I am from the “I call captain first pick”,

“I call first ball”.

From the stretched-out soccer matches with friends,

from the silly celebrations after a goal.

From the sight of fresh painted lines,

and smell of fresh cut gras

Why winter is the best

Winter is one of the best seasons, who doesn’t like playing outside all day then coming inside for hot chocolate and maybe even add some marshmallows. My favourite winter activity is hockey. I love playing on the odr ,but it must be with friends. It’s fun because there are no rules when you play on the odr ,you and whoever your playing with decide the rules. I also like playing in the arena for my team though that way there are rules and it’s more structured. I play for the North Dundas demons! We have played 8 games; I have 19 goals and 6 assists which makes up for a total of 25 points. If you count tournaments, I have 30 points. One of My favourite players is Justin he plays on the same line as me and we have good chemistry combine our points together its probably close to 45. Another one of my favourie winter activities is fighting in the snow with my friends. Well just play fighting, it’s still fun though. Whenever you get taken down you land in the nice powdery snow, or even better wrestling on top of a hill. My favourite friend to wrestle with is Brayson because he’s hard to take down and we both know it’s just for fun. I really don’t know how people find it fun to be inside during the winter, like there’s so much to do outside whether it is by yourself or with friends. Everything is just more fun outside!
